Fans of Newcastle United, get ready to be horrified because this is not the news you wanted to hear this morning.
Fans have anxiety during international vacations because their star players are frequently sent to meaningless friendlies around the world, increasing the risk of accidents and injury.
Sandro Tonali will not play in tonight’s match between Italy and Ukraine because to a muscular injury, according to the latest news from Sky Sports Italia (via Football Italia).
Tonali will eagerly anticipate going back to Milan the following week.
The midfielder who cost Newcastle £55 million from AC Milan has already made a significant contribution to the team and was expected to start against Brentford on Saturday.
But more significant than that is Newcastle’s first Champions League match in 20 years, which happens to be on the following Tuesday at Tonali’s old team.
Hopefully’slight’ means nothing to worry about for Newcastle, but I’d imagine that Eddie Howe will play it safe and keep Tonali on the sidelines on Saturday in the hopes that he’ll be fit to face Milan on Tuesday. Of course, Tonali had just as much chance of getting this injury if he had been training with Newcastle, but it always seemed more likely to happen when he wasn’t with the team.
