According to journalist Darren Witcoop, QPR is eager to offer Sinclair Armstrong a long-term contract at the club given his outstanding start to the 2023–24 campaign.
This season, Armstrong has been a shining star for Gareth Ainsworth’s QPR.
The 20-year-old has made five appearances in the Championship so far this season, earning one goal and one assist in the process. The R’s manager has great faith in the player.
The Republic of Ireland international’s contract expires next summer, but QPR have the option of giving him another year to stay.
However, according to Witcoop, QPR is eager to reward him with a long-term contract. Armstrong started four of QPR’s five league games this season, and he shone in the 2-1 victory at Cardiff City, where he scored one goal and provided the assist for the other. He tweeted that last night.
Armstrong has been playing in the starting XI during Lyndon Dykes’ recent absence, but considering Armstrong’s good form, it’s unclear whether the Scottish international will immediately take over the no. 9 position when he returns.
.new agreement?
Armstrong is undoubtedly a potential player for QPR. He is still technically under contract for two more years, but it appears like the R’s are thinking ahead with this one.
Acting now, before any teams begin to express interest in Armstrong, seems like a very prudent move. They’ve been injured by contractual difficulties in the past.
Armstrong should have every incentive to want to devote his long-term future to the club given that Ainsworth has given the Irishman plenty of first-team experience.
.
Armstrong has been an important player for QPR during this season’s difficult stretch of games, and they have so far managed to compete.
