Swansea City fans won’t be thrilled with Michael Duff since he made a mistake in his most recent game.

The Swans manager stated that he would rather lose the derby twice than gain promotion.

Cardiff City defender Mark McGuinness believes Swansea City manager Neil Warnock was incorrect to downplay the significance of the South Wales derby.

Before the international break, Swansea manager Duff stated that he would rather “win promotion and get beaten by Cardiff twice,” which enraged Swansea fans.

While the remark may have some merit, it was an unwise thing to say, especially given the Swans’ terrible start to the season, which has left them in the relegation zone. And McGuinness agrees that Duff’s assessment was incorrect.

“That’s the first time I’ve heard it!” said McGuinness when informed of Duff’s remarks. “I believe he is mistaken in that regard. This game is crucial for everyone.”Obviously, everyone wants to be promoted, but this means a lot to the fans and players here.

“If that’s his philosophy, then that’s his philosophy,” he says, “but I’m sure the fans won’t be happy with that one!”

“It’s always a big game for us, and we enjoy playing big games,” he continued. Everyone is excited about it.

“We’ve had a tough few games leading up to it, but we all know what these games mean. There is a positive vibe in the camp and everyone is looking forward to it.

“Any footballer playing in any derby knows how big it is, no matter if you’re from the area or not. It’s not about getting up for these games – that takes care of itself. It’s about focusing and knowing the job.”

Cardiff have had a difficult start to the season. There have been numerous positives, but several lapses in defense have resulted in a number of scores being surrendered in the final minutes of games.

McGuinness stated that he and the team have been working hard on it during the international break and that he believes the players and management are beginning to gel.

He thinks that a favourable result in the South Wales derby can kick-start their season and turn brief moments of positivity into points in the coming weeks and months.

“This game, hopefully, will give us momentum going forward, and hopefully, we can win, and it will kickstart our season,” he added. As musicians, we can never be too high or too low. We must stay focused and understand our jobs and duties. This is an opportunity to kick off our season, and we are excited about it.

“Hopefully, we can go out there and perform.”
