JUST IN: West Brom’s star player has publicly confirmed his exit. .

Kerry Walklett, a West Brom Women player, has announced her departure from the club in a “heartfelt” social media message.

The midfielder told X (16 September) that she opted to leave the club for “various reasons,” before thanking fans, staff, and players.

Walklett arrived to the Baggies two seasons ago and quickly established herself as a versatile finisher, winning the club’s Goal of the Season title in May.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave [West Brom] for various reasons,” Walklett remarked. Thanks to the fans, players, and staff over the previous two seasons, I’ve never felt more at home and have made some incredible experiences.

“I don’t know what’s next, but I’m looking forward to the next challenge.”

Walklett spent two years at the club and helped the Baggies to consecutive eighth-place finishes in the WPL Premier Division.

She will be recognized for her award-winning goal against Stoke City in their 3-2 win at the Bet365 Stadium on April 2.
Her half-volley from outside the penalty area, latched onto a bouncing clearance, sailed into the top right corner, striking the underside of the crossbar for good measure.

The outpouring of well-wishes and support following her announcement demonstrates how much she was cherished by the Baggies fandom and staff. While it’s unknown why Walklett left the club, she didn’t say much about what she’d do next.

In 2022, she led her team to the Birmingham FA County Cup final, where they were defeated 4-1 by Black Country rivals Wolves.

The cup final was a watershed moment for the women’s team, and her screamer was unforgettable. Walklett creates a lasting impression at West Brom.
