Sources: Reggie Cannon passes his QPR physical and signs a four-year contract.
According to Football Insider, QPR have agreed to sign USA international Reggie Cannon on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old has agreed to terms with Queen’s Park Rangers on a four-year contract and has already passed his medical.
Cannon is a free agent after leaving Portuguese club Boavista earlier this summer due to a dispute over alleged unpaid pay.
QPR manager Gareth Ainsworth has been looking for a right-back for some time, with only one natural right-sided defender in his squad.
Osman Kakay has appeared in eight games for the Championship team this season, accumulating 700 minutes of playing time.
Kakay has started all of QPR’s league games this season and has played the full 90 minutes in every one.
Ainsworth has additional defensive options, but he lost right-back Ethan Laird to fellow second-tier club Birmingham City this summer.
Cannon made 89 appearances for the Liga Portugal team and contributed one assist during his three years in Europe.
The defender has made numerous appearances for the USA international team since his first call-up in 2018, when he was only 20 years old.
Cannon has now earned 28 caps for his country, however he was left out of the squad for all of their 2022 World Cup matches, in which they advanced to the Round of 16.
In other news, the defender will have a medical at QPR after Nottingham Forest granted clearance.
