What Eddie Howe said to his key player Harvey Barnes in their against Sheffield United

Harvey Barnes has had to be patient at Newcastle United so far, and the former Leicester City winger will be aiming for his first start against Sheffield United. Harvey Bares should be ‘given a bit of a chance to shine’ against Sheffield United on Sunday, according to Harry Redknapp. The summer signing has only made one competitive start for Newcastle United, however he scored and assisted on his debut against Aston Villa.

However, due to the form of Anthony Gordon on the left flank, the former Leicester City player has had to be patient. The season began with Miguel Almiron on the right side, with Gordon and, most recently, Jacob Murphy replacing in.

Howe could be tempted to rotate his squad following midweek draw at AC Milan, with the televised clash with the Blades the first of three matches in six days. Redknapp has backed Newcastle to grind out a victory at Bramall Lane, and believes Barnes could prove the ‘difference’.

Redknapp told BetVictor: “Sheffield United will have a serious point to prove after being left frustrated at Spurs last weekend, it will be tough against a Newcastle side with plenty of talent. Eddie may have to start thinking about a bit of rotation now the Champions League campaign is underway.

“I would like to see Harvey Barnes given a bit of a chance to shine in a game like this where he could be the difference. Sheffield United will be hard to break down but Newcastle can come away with a tight win.”
