Fabrizio Romano appears to have taken a pop shot at Nottingham Forest over Andrey Santos. The Reds left the Chelsea loanee on the bench once more yesterday.
During the summer transfer window, the bright youngster joined Forest. Despite being highly regarded by manager Mauricio Pochettino, he was permitted to leave Stamford Bridge.
The player has yet to appear for Forest in the Premier League. He did start the Carabao Cup match against Burnley, but Steve Cooper has been hesitant to use him in the league.
Romano appears to be dissatisfied with Forest because of Santos.
The Reds have come in for some backhanded criticism from transfer guru Romano. He appeared to Tweet a random message about Santos after he didn’t make it onto the pitch again.
It just seemed somewhat strange timing. The Reds had just come from a goal behind with 10 men to earn a share of the spoils against Brentford but Romano mentioned a player who wasn’t on the pitch.
Forest will utilise Santos and he will get game time. For now, however, he will have to be patient whilst Steve Cooper tries to establish where he sees him fitting into his plans.
Santos could be recalled if he’s not used
To be honest, this doesn’t need to be of any concern to Romano. He claims that other clubs wanted to sign him but Chelsea were happy to let him go to Forest.
The season is still young, but Santos should see action for Forest in 2023/24. There are still more games to be played, and perhaps he can make an impact.
Every summer, Chelsea loans out many players. It’s never been an issue for Romano in the past, and it’s interesting that he’s suddenly doing some public relations for the Blues.
