What West Brom boss Carlos Corberan’s said after their 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday

West Brom beat bottom club Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Friday night to climb up to fifth place in the Championship table.
West Brom’s unbeaten record in the Championship continues. Carlos Corberan’s side is currently unbeaten in five games and has won their past two, moving the Baggies into the top six.

John Swift scored the game-winning goal in the 13th minute last night. The Englishman has five goals in ten league games for the Baggies this season, after scoring six in all of last season.

After the game, Corberan addressed Swift, informing the club:

“John Swift is playing really well right now, and he got the winning goal.” When you play as the number 10, you are the second striker because you are closest to the striker.

“We knew the closer we could get Swift to the attacking box, the more likely that would be.” His level of quality and effort has been outstanding, and he has the potential to make a significant difference.”

Swift is now West Brom’s top scorer in the Championship and one of the top scorers in the league, despite the absences of forwards Daryl Dike and Josh Maja.

Swift is making an impression for West Brom.
West Brom are looking excellent right now, despite some mixed performances this season.

They didn’t completely destroy Wednesday last night, but the result may have been unfair to the visitors, with West Brom in perfect control throughout.

Swift is in top form right now. He’s looking as good as he’s ever looked for the Baggies, and if his scoring run continues, he may score 20 or more goals for West Brom this season.

With the likes of Dike and Maja sidelined, Corberan will be relieved that Swift is in scoring form.

West Bromwich Albion will travel to Birmingham City on Friday night.
