Charlton Athletic’s midfield talent, Scott Fraser, has shared that the recently appointed manager, Michael Appleton, managed to make him feel valued, despite the fact that he was sidelined due to an injury when Appleton took over. The 28-year-old suffered a calf injury during the season’s opening game under the previous manager, Dean Holden.
Appleton assumed control of the League One team just last month, and Fraser also had opportunities to make substitute appearances under his leadership. However, a turning point came when Fraser was included in the starting lineup for Charlton’s EFL Trophy match against Aston Villa’s Under-21 team, during which he delivered two assists in their 4-2 victory.
Fraser openly acknowledged that Appleton engaged in numerous conversations with him, even during his injury recovery, which instilled a sense of significance and belonging. This was especially meaningful considering he couldn’t actively participate with the squad due to his injury.
With the international break on the horizon, Fraser now aims to secure a starting position in the upcoming league match against Reading.
