Blues boss Kieran McKenna says fans can expect to get their first glimpse of central defender in the next couple of weeks,

Blues manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that fans can anticipate the first appearance of central defender Axel Tuanzebe in the coming weeks. However, Tuanzebe will not be part of the lineup for the upcoming match against Rotherham United on Friday.

Tuanzebe joined the club the week after the transfer window closed, having been a free agent following his departure from Manchester United earlier in the summer. The 25-year-old made his debut at Portman Road during the international break.

McKenna commented on how the team used the break, saying, “It was a balance of training, and the players who weren’t with international squads had the weekend off. We had an in-house game with the U23s mixed in, in which Axel and Christian Walton participated. This allowed the players to get back on the field in match kit, helping to build match-type fitness.”

He added, “Axel had been working on his fitness after joining the club lacking in that area and recovering from a back problem. While he won’t be part of the Rotherham game, we expect to see him in action in the next couple of weeks, possibly making his debut in the Carabao Cup fourth round match against Premier League side Fulham at Portman Road.”

McKenna emphasized the need for a well-rounded squad, as there are other center-backs in good form. He also acknowledged the busy schedule with six games in the next three weeks, with the potential for more matches if they progress in the cup. The team aims to make the most of this intensive period before taking stock during the November break.
