Hull City suffered a 2-1 defeat at their home ground, extending their winless streak to five games. Manager Liam Rosenior emphasized the need to eliminate avoidable mistakes to unlock the team’s potential.
Initially, City appeared headed for their fifth consecutive home draw, bouncing back from a goal deficit when Liam Delap scored, equalizing Southampton’s lead established by Will Smallbone. However, in the 95th minute, Ryan Fraser took advantage of lax defending to secure a last-minute victory, sending the 2,000 away fans into ecstasy.
Despite showing promise in the first half and maintaining pressure in the second, the Tigers managed only three shots on target, failing to convert opportunities into goals, a source of immense frustration for Rosenior. He expressed his disappointment, highlighting the recurrent issue of conceding early goals in the last three games. He stressed the importance of maintaining a solid defense and not squandering points, which the team had worked hard to earn in previous performances.
Rosenior acknowledged the pain of the loss but looked forward to the upcoming game against Birmingham on Wednesday as an opportunity to rebound and put this defeat behind them.
