Charlton Athletic’s striker Chuks Aneke is scheduled to undergo a hamstring scan today following his early exit from the match against Reading, as stated by Michael Appleton. Aneke recently returned to the Charlton Athletic lineup after featuring as a substitute in previous games. His first start was in the victory against Exeter City, and the second occurred over the weekend against Reading, where he even managed to score in the 4-0 win. However, he had to be substituted shortly after the one-hour mark due to concerns about his injury history.
In anticipation of the midweek clash with Lincoln City, former Lincoln City manager Appleton provided an initial update on Aneke’s condition. According to the official club website, Appleton mentioned that Aneke is set to undergo a scan, and the extent of the injury will be clearer after receiving the scan results. Encouragingly, Aneke seems to be in good spirits, although the severity of the injury remains uncertain. Appleton stated:
“We’ll know a little bit more tomorrow. I believe he is being scanned tomorrow. Once we get the results back from the scan, we’ll have a better idea. He seems to be in reasonable spirits considering I know he’s had previous issues with his hamstring. We should refrain from making premature judgments until we have the results.”
Charlton Athletic will be hoping for the best, as Aneke has recently demonstrated his value to the team with a goal and an assist in his last two appearances. However, given his history of injuries, the club will exercise caution regarding his fitness.
Aneke has an impressive record of 55 goals and 27 assists in 195 League One appearances, with 25 goals in 97 appearances during his time at The Valley. Keeping him fit is crucial to the team’s success this season, and they will handle his situation with care.
Under Appleton’s management, Charlton Athletic remains undefeated, winning four games and drawing three in all competitions. They aim to extend this streak in the match against Lincoln as they strive to climb the League One table from their current 10th position.
