Transfer news: Sunderland face competition for £34m-rated potential loanee after injury comeback

The latest transfer news concerning Manchester United’s Amad Diallo indicates that Sunderland faces tough competition if they aim to sign him on loan again in January. This week, fresh reports have linked Premier League club Wolves with a potential January loan move for Amad, who previously spent time on loan with Sunderland.

Amad joined Manchester United in 2021 for a transfer fee that could rise to approximately £34 million with add-ons. However, he was loaned out to Rangers and then to Sunderland. During his loan spell at Sunderland, he made a significant impact by scoring 14 goals in 39 Championship appearances.

Unfortunately, Amad hasn’t been able to play for Manchester United this season due to an injury setback he suffered during pre-season. Football Transfers reports that Wolves have made contact with Manchester United regarding a possible loan move in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Sunderland had expressed interest in signing Amad on loan during the previous summer transfer window and were eager to have the attacking midfielder back. However, Amad’s pre-season injury thwarted their plans, as Manchester United preferred his recovery to take place with their own team rather than at Sunderland.

Amad, who is 21 years old, has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, with a club option for an additional year. The decision about whether to send him on another loan move in January will need to be assessed by Manchester United, while Sunderland is closely monitoring the situation.

Sunderland, managed by Tony Mowbray, is set to face Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City at the Stadium of Light in the Championship this weekend. Their previous match ended in a goalless draw against 10-man Swansea City in Wales.
