France is reportedly scheduled to host the Rugby World Cup winners, South Africa, and finalists, New Zealand, during the November Test windows in 2024 and 2025. This follows Les Bleus’ encounters with both Southern Hemisphere giants in their home World Cup, where they triumphed over the All Blacks in the opening match but suffered a narrow defeat to the Springboks in the quarter-finals.
As the focus shifts to the next World Cup cycle, speculation about France’s upcoming opponents has surfaced. After the 2024 Six Nations, Fabien Galthie’s team is expected to tour Argentina for the July internationals. According to reports from the Americas Rugby Championship, France is set to engage in a two-match Test series against Los Pumas, with a possibility of facing Uruguay during their South American tour.
Midi Olympique reports that France will have a busy 2024, facing Argentina for the third time that year, along with clashes against Japan, New Zealand, and Los Pumas in November. Notably, France has not toured Argentina since 2016 and has encountered Los Pumas only once under Galthie’s leadership, securing a 29-20 victory in 2021.
In 2025, France is expected to play the All Blacks and the Springboks, kicking off their November internationals against the defending double world champions, South Africa. Following the match against the Boks, Galthie’s side would host Fiji and Australia to conclude their Test year.
Traditionally, France has played most of its Test matches at the Stade de France, but recent November internationals have taken place in various arenas around the country. While the report does not specify the hosting stadiums, the Stade de France is likely to accommodate the fixtures against the Springboks and All Blacks.
The 2025 November Test window is anticipated to be the last of its kind before World Rugby’s planned global restructuring takes effect, replacing the traditional July and November internationals.
