Former Huddersfield Town midfielder Etienne Camara, who recently joined Udinese in the summer, might be making a swift return to English football, as per reports from Italy. The 20-year-old departed from Huddersfield to Udinese for a reported fee of around £2 million during the summer transfer window. However, with only a year left on his contract and finding himself lower in the pecking order under Neil Warnock, the defensive midfielder was sold by the club.
Reports from TuttoMercatoWeb suggest that Watford could be interested in bringing Camara back to English football, with a potential January deal in the works. Watford is owned by Gino Pozzo, the son of Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo, who previously managed Watford before passing it on.
Camara, who has yet to make a Serie A start for Udinese, has been on the bench on 12 occasions and made his only appearance in a late substitute role during an Italian Cup defeat to Cagliari. In his last season with Huddersfield, he made 20 appearances but did not start a game after a 4-0 defeat to Burnley in February.
If the move to Watford materializes, Camara could face Huddersfield shortly, with Darren Moore’s side scheduled to play at Vicarage Road in a Championship game on February 24.
