The defender for Newcastle United has told the team that he wants to stay, even if his current deal expires in the summer.

Newcastle United defender Emil Krafth has expressed his desire to stay on Tyneside despite his current contract expiring next summer. The 29-year-old Swede recently made a remarkable return to the first team after recovering from a brutal ACL injury, partnering with Paul Dummett for a clean sheet in the win over Manchester United.

Krafth, who has had a challenging year due to injury, is now fully fit and focused on helping Sweden in their upcoming matches. While his contract situation at Newcastle is uncertain, Krafth has conveyed that he is settled in the north east of England and enjoys life there.

Regarding his contract, Krafth mentioned that he hasn’t thought much about it and is focused on playing football. He stated that he and his family enjoy Newcastle, and they can imagine staying. When asked about the possibility of speaking to other clubs for a pre-contract agreement in January, Krafth said it depends on what signals the club gives, but as of now, nothing has been signaled.

Under manager Eddie Howe, Krafth has been one of the first improvers, significantly raising his standing in the Newcastle squad after the 2021 takeover. Despite a setback due to a knee injury in August 2022, Krafth has returned as a solid performer, and Howe expressed his satisfaction with having him back in the team.
