West Bromwich Albion’s manager, Carlos Corberán, expressed his deep commitment to the club and his desire to achieve significant success as a way of reciprocating the support he has received from the fanbase. Speaking to Panenka in Spain about his tenure at the Hawthorns since taking over as manager in October of the previous year, the Spanish boss discussed his journey with the team.
Upon his arrival, West Bromwich Albion was struggling at the lower end of the Championship table. Despite the challenging circumstances, Corberán managed to orchestrate a turnaround, leading the team to a ninth-place finish, just three points away from the top six. In the current season, West Brom sits in seventh place with 26 points from 16 games, sharing the same point tally as sixth-placed Sunderland.
While an automatic promotion seems unlikely due to a 13-point gap between the team and the top two, Corberán remains optimistic about their prospects, targeting a playoff spot. Drawing on his experience of reaching the playoff final with Huddersfield Town in 2022 (which they lost to Nottingham Forest), Corberán aims for even greater achievements with West Brom.
In his recent comments, Corberán expressed his admiration for West Bromwich as a formidable team and conveyed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the fans. He articulated his aspiration to deliver the highest level of success for the club, emphasizing that he wants every game to reflect the team’s identity and commitment to the sport. Corberán sees his role as a constant effort to make the fans proud and ultimately elevate West Bromwich Albion to the level he believes it deserves.
