BRADFORD CITY manager Graham Alexander admits to having a selection poser as to who to go with on the left-hand side in defence in Saturday

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander is facing a selection dilemma for the upcoming League Two game against Notts County, particularly regarding the left-hand side of the defense. Liam Ridehalgh, who suffered a concussion in the previous game against Barrow, will be sidelined for a couple of weeks. Additionally, loanee Daniel Oyegoke is facing a potential spell on the sidelines due to an injury sustained in Alexander’s first match in charge, and he is being assessed at his parent club, Brentford.

With both Ridehalgh and Oyegoke unavailable, the manager is considering alternatives for the left-back position. Lewis Richards and Ciaran Kelly, both loan players, are in contention to fill the void at Meadow Lane.

Alexander expressed his disappointment regarding Oyegoke’s injury, stating that the player had shown promise in the initial days of being with the team. However, the extent of Oyegoke’s injury is uncertain, and the decision regarding potential surgery will be made in consultation with Brentford.

In light of these injuries, Alexander sees an opportunity for Richards and Kelly to step up. He emphasized that every player’s misfortune presents an opportunity for someone else, and he had positive discussions with both players about their potential roles in the team.

Regarding the absence of Vadaine Oliver and Alex Pattison, Alexander confirmed that they remain unavailable. Kevin McDonald is also not ready to make his return due to a hamstring issue. Alexander acknowledged the need for patience in McDonald’s recovery process, indicating that the player is currently engaged in light jogging and won’t be in contention for the upcoming match.

In summary, Bradford City is navigating defensive challenges with key players sidelined, and the manager is evaluating options to maintain stability in the team’s backline.
