According to a supercomputer analysis by BetVictor, Reading is anticipated to face a second consecutive relegation. The team has encountered significant challenges, having not secured an away victory in over a year and lacking a league win since September.
Despite being 10 points behind Exeter City with seven points, and even with a four-point deduction for late wage payments, Ruben Selles’ side would still find themselves in 23rd place. Cheltenham Town, Carlisle United, and Fleetwood Town currently occupy the bottom four spots alongside Reading.
The BetVictor supercomputer projects Reading to climb to 21st with 46 points, but unfortunately, it foresees the team dropping into the fourth tier for the first time since 1983.
The predicted relegation candidates include Cheltenham, Carlisle, and Port Vale, while Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth are expected to secure automatic promotion with both amassing over 90 points. The playoff spots are predicted to be filled by Barnsley, Peterborough United, Derby County, and Oxford United.
Following the international break, Reading’s first home game will be against Carlisle United, and the upcoming away match against Wycombe Wanderers has already sold out. The situation appears challenging for Reading as they navigate the remainder of the season.
