Southampton is reportedly sending scouts to watch two international players during the Championship break. The scouts will be present at the Austria vs. Germany international friendly to assess the performances of Sturm Graz forward Manprit Sarkaria and TSV Hartberg’s Maximilian Entrup.
Manprit Sarkaria, a 27-year-old Austrian, is a versatile player who has played in various attacking positions throughout his career. Currently playing for Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, he has mainly operated as a center-forward this season, contributing three goals and four assists in the league, along with four assists in two OFB-Cup matches.
Maximilian Entrup, a 26-year-old Austrian playing for TSV Hartberg, is described as an out-and-out center-forward. He has been in impressive form, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in nine Austrian Bundesliga appearances this season. Additionally, he has scored three goals in two matches in the OFB-Cup.
Both players have spent their entire careers in Austria, making it challenging to predict their performance in the Championship. Southampton’s decision to send scouts to observe them against high-quality opposition in Germany reflects the club’s proactive approach. With both players entering their peak years at 26 and 27, Southampton may see them as valuable additions, especially if there’s a need to reinforce the squad, such as in the event of Che Adams leaving in January.
The report suggests that if either Entrup or Sarkaria impresses, they could be potential replacements or backups for Ross Stewart, especially if Southampton remains in contention for promotion. The outcome of the scouting mission will be known in due course, and fans are encouraged to keep an eye on these players as the January transfer window approaches.
