After recovering from an injury, Charlton’s star got off to a strong start against Sutton United, winning 3-0.

Corey Blackett-Taylor was initially considered an injury doubt for Charlton’s EFL Trophy match against Sutton United, but he ended up starting and scoring his sixth goal of the season. The 26-year-old winger had missed the second half of a previous FA Cup match due to a knock, and there were concerns about his fitness leading up to the Sutton game.

Blackett-Taylor’s performance against Sutton included a missed penalty, as his attempt hit the post after Tyreece Campbell was fouled in the box. Despite the penalty miss, Charlton secured a 3-0 victory over their League Two opponents, advancing to the next round of the EFL Trophy.

Charlton’s head coach, Michael Appleton, confirmed that Blackett-Taylor had trained in the days leading up to the Sutton match and felt fine. Appleton saw the game as an opportunity for the winger to get more minutes on the pitch after playing only 45 minutes in the previous FA Cup game. Despite the injury concern, Blackett-Taylor contributed to another win for Charlton.
