Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith has acknowledged the challenges presented by the New Orleans Saints’ versatile offensive player, Taysom Hill, as the Falcons prepare to face their NFC South divisional rival. The Saints, currently leading the division with a 5-5 record, will be looking to end a three-game losing streak coming off a bye week when they play the Falcons (4-6) this week.
Smith emphasized Hill’s multifaceted abilities, describing him as a “Swiss army knife on offense” and recognizing his capability to contribute in various positions. Hill, standing at 6-2 and weighing around 220 pounds, possesses the physique of a tight end, the power of a running back, and the arm of a quarterback. Smith highlighted Hill’s effectiveness in pushing the ball down the field in the play-action game and his proficiency in the direct run package.
Having played for seven seasons, Hill has consistently perplexed opposing defenses, accumulating over 3,200 yards from scrimmage as a kickoff returner, wide receiver, quarterback, running back, and tight end. In the current season, Hill has seen significant playing time, being on the field for 42 percent of offensive snaps, marking the third-highest percentage in his career.
While Hill may not have achieved Pro Bowl status in any single position, Smith stressed the importance of the Falcons closely monitoring him during the upcoming game in Atlanta. The Falcons recognize the need to contain Hill and be prepared for any strategic nuances he may introduce, as they aim to keep their playoff hopes alive.
