Former Huddersfield Town player Frank Sinclair, in an exclusive interview with Football League World, has suggested that current Huddersfield Town boss Darren Moore will likely have a list of January targets and will be anticipating support from the Championship club in the upcoming winter transfer window. Sinclair, emphasizing the need for patience, believes that Moore requires time to bring about a turnaround at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Huddersfield Town’s 2023/24 season began with Neil Warnock in charge, but despite a promising start, the club’s owners opted for a managerial change, bringing in Moore for what they saw as a longer-term solution. However, the decision has not yielded positive results so far, with the team winning just one of Moore’s first nine games and slipping down the table.
In the exclusive interview, Sinclair urges his former club to have faith in Moore and anticipates a busy January transfer window for the manager. Sinclair suggests that Moore would have been aware of the challenges when taking the job and may be looking to reinforce the squad in January to improve the team’s prospects in the new year.
Sinclair expresses confidence in Moore’s experience at the Championship level, stating that the manager likely has a list of affordable players he aims to bring in during the transfer window. He believes that Moore wouldn’t have taken the job without some agreement in place for January reinforcements.
When asked about whether Huddersfield’s decision to replace Warnock mid-season might be regretted, Sinclair acknowledges that it’s a results-based business and emphasizes that Moore’s appointment is a long-term one. He suggests that if Moore can keep the team in the league and is given a couple of transfer windows to build the squad, he is prepared for the long haul.
Sinclair concludes by acknowledging the scrutiny on results when a new manager arrives at a club and suggests that the sooner Huddersfield can secure positive results and move to a safer position, the better it will be for Darren Moore.
