Huddersfield Town Under-19 coach Oran Thompson was delighted at how his side put their gameplan into action in their last game

Last weekend, the young Terriers secured a 2-2 draw against Grimsby Town, prompting satisfaction from Huddersfield Town Under-19 coach Oran Thompson regarding the execution of their game plan. Goals by Hazeem Bakre and Dan Isaac contributed to the team earning a hard-fought point. Thompson expressed contentment as his players applied pre-game tactics and demonstrated adaptability to changing conditions as the match progressed.

Thompson elaborated on their strategy, stating, “Our game plan was to adopt a mid-fight zone, a recent focus in our training program. In the first half, we successfully implemented this formation, limiting Grimsby’s chances significantly.” The coach highlighted the team’s success in scoring two breakaway goals, courtesy of Hazeem and Danny, instilling confidence in their playing style.

The second half, however, presented challenges as the pitch conditions became scrappier. Despite this, Thompson commended his players for adapting to the circumstances, making decisions based on the evolving pitch conditions. Acknowledging a bit of tiredness setting in, he emphasized this as a developmental aspect, noting that players learn to make optimal decisions as they mature. Thompson underscored the importance of adapting to less-than-ideal pitches, recognizing the team’s commendable performance in handling such challenges during the Saturday match.
