At The Hawthorns, West Brom received an injury boost over a “outstanding” player.

West Bromwich Albion has received a positive update on the injury front as one of their key players, Martin Kelly, has returned to training after a prolonged absence due to a serious knee injury. The news comes as a boost for the Baggies, who have faced challenges with several players being sidelined this season.

Kelly, a right-back, suffered the injury in January and has been out of action since undergoing surgery. Despite limited opportunities with only seven senior appearances since joining from Crystal Palace last summer, the 33-year-old is eager to make an impact when he returns to competitive play.

According to reports from BirminghamLive, Kelly has re-entered first-team training and is expected to be available for selection in a few weeks. The plan is to gradually build up his fitness by providing him with game time with West Brom’s youth side before reintegrating him into the first-team setup.

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan sees Kelly’s return as a significant step forward, and the club is optimistic about having the defender back in action. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, Kelly is known for his aerial prowess, averaging 3.4 aerial wins and 2.6 clearances per game in the Championship last season. He is recognized as an influential figure at the heart of the defense.

Moreover, Kelly’s versatility is highlighted, as he can operate across the backline and even in a more advanced role on the right side of the midfield. With a track record of 12 contributions (eight assists and four goals) in his career, Kelly is not only a solid defender but also contributes to offensive plays.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has hailed Kelly as West Brom’s “outstanding” player, emphasizing the positive impact he can bring to the team. The Baggies will be eager to have him back in action as they aim to strengthen their squad and improve their performance on the field.
