West Brom’s Alex Mowatt makes Ipswich and Middlesbrough comparison and has message for team mates

Alex Mowatt, currently with West Bromwich Albion, draws parallels between Ipswich Town’s current form and his experience with Middlesbrough last season. Having spent the previous season on loan at Middlesbrough under manager Michael Carrick, who collaborated with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna at Manchester United, Mowatt notes similarities in their playing styles.

Under McKenna, Ipswich has made an impressive return to the Championship, securing second place after a remarkable start to the season. Carrick, in his first season in charge at Middlesbrough, led the team to the playoffs after taking over from Chris Wilder early in the campaign.

Mowatt, who has been in excellent form since returning to West Bromwich Albion, acknowledges Ipswich’s surprising success and highlights the resemblance in their playing approach to that of Middlesbrough during his loan spell. Both McKenna and Carrick, being former Manchester United figures, share a similar football philosophy.

Expressing awareness of Ipswich’s strong record, Mowatt emphasizes the challenge they pose, having lost only one game and being unbeaten in 12 matches. Ipswich’s impressive run has placed them close to Leicester City in the standings. However, West Bromwich Albion has also been on a positive trajectory in recent weeks, hovering just outside the playoff positions.

Mowatt urges confidence in their own abilities, noting that West Bromwich Albion is also a formidable side. He sees the upcoming match against Ipswich as a significant challenge but believes in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion. Mowatt points out the team’s demonstrated resilience throughout the season, expressing the desire to secure a crucial three points in the upcoming fixture.
