Paris Saint-German boss makes ‘incredible’ Newcastle United claim ahead of Champions League clash

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has provided insights into the upcoming Champions League clash against Newcastle United, emphasizing that his team will approach the match as if it were a final. The significance of the game lies in the potential for PSG to secure a spot in the last 16, while Newcastle must avoid defeat to keep their own hopes alive at the Parc des Princes.

Currently positioned second in Group F, PSG holds a two-point lead over the bottom-placed United and is one point behind group leaders Borussia Dortmund, with AC Milan in third place with five points. Enrique expressed the importance of the home crowd’s support, anticipating a vibrant atmosphere at the Parc des Princes and highlighting the special role of fans as a crucial asset.

Enrique acknowledged the challenging nature of the match, citing the need for a strong defensive performance against a Newcastle side that exhibited remarkable physicality and pressure in their recent victory over Chelsea. Reflecting on their previous encounter in October, where PSG suffered a 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park, the manager hinted at a desire for revenge. He emphasized the importance of ball possession, strategic play in the opponent’s half, and clinical execution to make the match difficult for Newcastle and achieve victory, emphasizing the need for a high level of performance from his team. The match is scheduled for an 8 pm kickoff.
