Rams put CB on injured reserve, while another will miss next game

The Los Angeles Rams have faced challenges with injuries in their cornerback and special teams positions, with Duke Shelley being placed on injured reserve and Quentin Lake expected to miss his second consecutive game. Despite the setbacks, coach Sean McVay expressed confidence in the team’s reserves, particularly highlighting the performances of Russ Yeast and Decobie Durant in Lake’s absence.

While McVay did not rule Lake out for the upcoming game, he acknowledged that it might be challenging for him to return this week. The coach praised the contributions of John Johnson and Jordan Fuller, emphasizing their excellent performances in the previous game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Quentin Lake has been a significant contributor on defense, accumulating 33 tackles and three passes defensed this season. In the absence of injured players, John Johnson played a season-high 62 snaps on defense, and other reserves like Russ Yeast, Cobie Durant, and Tre’Vius Tomlinson also saw increased playing time in the recent win over the Cardinals.

Duke Shelley, primarily a special teamer, had played 76 defensive snaps throughout the year but had a substantial role on special teams with 190 snaps, tied for the fourth-most on the team.

With the option to make a corresponding move on the 53-man roster, the Rams are gearing up for a crucial game against the Cleveland Browns. Currently holding a 5-6 record, the Rams are in contention for a wild card berth and could improve their playoff standing with a win, putting them in a competitive position against the 6-6 Minnesota Vikings. The upcoming matchup against the Browns carries significant playoff implications for the Rams.
