Newcastle United issued an official statement on Monday morning, revealing a newly established commercial partnership. InPost, a prominent out-of-home delivery provider in Europe, has become the latest addition to the expanding roster of commercial partners aligned with the club’s current ownership.
In an announcement dated December 4, 2023, Newcastle United enthusiastically disclosed a distinctive collaboration with InPost Group. This multi-year partnership designates InPost as the Official Parcel Collection and Delivery Service Partner for the club. As part of the agreement, InPost is set to install custom-designed parcel lockers, named ‘Geordie lockers’ in homage to Newcastle United’s iconic black and white colors, outside the renowned St. James’ Park – marking a groundbreaking initiative for a Premier League stadium.
These lockers, an extension of InPost’s existing network of 6,000 lockers in the UK, will offer Newcastle United fans a convenient, secure, and swift option for deliveries and returns right outside St. James’ Park. Positioned strategically at the Gallowgate End and on Barrack Road, they provide a central location within the city, complemented by additional collection points in Newcastle and the wider Tyneside area.
The partnership also involves InPost establishing a digital presence across the club’s expanding digital platforms and within St. James’ Park. This digital presence will showcase InPost’s out-of-home delivery service, featuring over 60,000 collection points across Europe.
Newcastle United’s Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the shared commitment to innovation and fan-centric initiatives. He highlighted the benefits for supporters and residents of Newcastle, emphasizing the convenience, cost-effectiveness, and eco-friendly aspects of the new delivery options.
Rafal Brzoska, InPost Group’s founder and CEO, echoed the excitement about the partnership, emphasizing InPost’s commitment to expanding its presence in the UK and Europe. Brzoska emphasized the alignment of growth trajectories between InPost and Newcastle United, with both entities experiencing significant expansion in their respective markets.
