In the upcoming Premier League clash between Luton Town and Arsenal, pundit Chris Sutton, writing for BBC Sport, has predicted a 2-0 victory for Arsenal. Despite acknowledging Arsenal’s historical struggles at Luton’s home ground, Kenilworth Road, Sutton believes that the current Gunners’ pragmatic approach will secure them a win.
Arsenal, currently at the top of the Premier League table under Mikel Arteta, will make the 31.5-mile trip north to face newly-promoted Luton Town in the evening kickoff at 8:15 pm.
Sutton noted that while Arsenal historically struggled at Kenilworth Road during Luton’s top-flight presence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Gunners have not won there since January 1984. However, Sutton expressed confidence that Arsenal’s current form and playing style, which has been more pragmatic than the previous season, will help them overcome the historical challenges.
The last time Arsenal faced Luton Town in any competition was on Boxing Day 1991, resulting in a 1-0 loss for the Gunners with Mick Harford scoring the decisive goal. Despite Luton’s historic resilience against Arsenal, Sutton believes that the Gunners’ wait for a victory at Kenilworth Road is likely to end in this encounter.
Arsenal, sitting at the top of the Premier League table, will pose a tough challenge for Luton Town, currently in 17th place with nine points under manager Rob Edwards. The Gunners are two points clear of second-placed Liverpool and will aim to extend their lead with a positive result against Luton.
