Swansea City is currently in search of a new manager following the departure of Michael Duff, and Nathan Jones is not currently considered a candidate for the position. The former Southampton and Luton Town manager, who has been out of work for nearly a year, is not in contention to replace Duff.
John Eustace, who recently departed from Birmingham City in October, is being considered as a potential candidate for the managerial role. Swansea had previously expressed interest in Eustace, but it remains uncertain whether he would be interested in taking on the role at this stage. Another candidate being considered is Luke Williams from Notts County, who is reportedly interested in the position despite his current involvement in a promotion battle in League Two.
In the interim, Alan Sheehan has been placed in temporary charge of the team as the club seeks a long-term appointment. Sheehan, a former assistant to Nathan Jones at Luton, is expected to oversee the upcoming fixture, with no immediate replacement lined up for Duff.
Swansea City is currently facing a challenging period in the Championship, being winless in their last five league games and sitting 18th in the table. The team went through the entire month of November without a victory, and a 1-1 draw in Duff’s final game in charge left them nine points adrift of the play-off places and only five clear of the relegation zone.
The next fixture for Swansea is against 23rd-placed Rotherham United on December 9th.
Regarding Nathan Jones as a potential manager, his success at Luton has demonstrated an understanding of the Championship with limited resources. However, his less successful stints at Stoke and Southampton, coupled with his controversial figure and contrasting style of play, may make him a gamble for Swansea. Jones is known for being a fiery character who thrives in the right environment. While there is potential for success, the move could also be risky and might not align with the “Swansea Way.”
