Newcastle’s goalkeepers coach has explain what the team will face without Nick Pope

Newcastle United is set to face an unfortunate loss with Nick Pope sidelined for the next five months due to injury. This situation presents an opportunity for Martin Dubravka to showcase his skills and reclaim his status as a starting goalkeeper.

Dubravka, who was a reliable player for Newcastle before the arrival of Nick Pope, now has the chance to prove his worth as the first choice. Despite Pope’s injury being a setback for the team, Newcastle’s goalkeeping staff reportedly holds a strong belief in Dubravka’s abilities, considering him a very good understudy.

The coaching staff, including Adam Bartlett (head of goalkeeper coaching) and Shwan Jalal (first-team goalkeeper coach), are said to be significant supporters of Dubravka. Despite the injury setback, there seems to be confidence within the club that Dubravka can step up to the challenge.

The report suggests that Newcastle is not actively seeking a replacement for Pope in the January transfer window, indicating a willingness to give Dubravka the opportunity to prove himself as the main goalkeeper. This decision aligns with the belief that Dubravka’s capabilities may mitigate the loss of Pope without the need for immediate reinforcements.

Dubravka, a £4 million signing, was a fan favorite among Newcastle supporters in the past, and the coaching staff’s endorsement indicates their faith in his abilities. As he takes on the starting role once again, Dubravka will have crucial games ahead, including a Carabao Cup quarter-final and a significant Tyne-Wear derby, providing him with ample chances to demonstrate his value to the team.
