GRAHAM Alexander has played down dressing-room talk that City’s training is more

Graham Alexander, the manager of Bradford City, has downplayed reports of increased intensity in training under his leadership. Players had reportedly noted a higher standard in training compared to the previous regime under Mark Hughes. However, Alexander emphasized that they are simply training to the level he has always demanded and that he was not making judgments about the past.

The manager stressed that players must meet the standards set by the coaching staff and work hard consistently. He believes in training the way the team wants to play and expects players to give their best effort. Alexander mentioned that he wants players to feel they’ve earned their wages and are prepared for the physical and mental challenges of a football game.

While players, including Alex Pattison, have mentioned the increased intensity on the training pitch, Alexander attributed it to the collective effort of both the coaching staff and the players themselves. He highlighted the importance of fitness in maintaining decision-making and overall performance during games.

Despite the recent success with four straight victories in all competitions, Alexander dismissed the notion of a “new manager bounce,” suggesting that players should have self-motivation regardless of who leads them. He emphasized that he did not witness a lack of effort before his arrival and that the team was already working hard. Alexander expressed satisfaction with the players’ approach to training and games, stating that they have taken their training performances into matches.

The postponement of the Salford game due to a waterlogged pitch has given Bradford City a full week to prepare for their upcoming match against Gillingham. Alexander praised the team’s response and emphasized the importance of sustained motivation and hard work, regardless of managerial changes.
