HUDDERSFIELD TOWN manager Darren Moore insists that he fully understands the frustrations of home supporters

Huddersfield Town manager Darren Moore acknowledges and shares the frustration of the home supporters who expressed their displeasure through boos at halftime and the final whistle following a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Preston. Despite an underwhelming performance against Bristol City over the weekend, Town missed the chance to regain favor with fans on a challenging night.

Moore, visibly upset, described his feelings as “angry, disappointed, and frustrated” with his team’s display. Huddersfield is now looking nervously at the relegation zone, which they might enter if midweek results go against them. Moore, having won only twice in his 14 matches in charge, understands the fans’ disappointment, acknowledging the recent hope that had been building.

Reflecting on the fans’ reaction, Moore commented, “The fans made their feelings clear – rightly so as there had been some hope in terms of where things were going in recent weeks.” He emphasized the importance of focusing on their own performance rather than worrying about other teams’ results.

Despite making three changes during halftime, Moore expressed his frustration with the team’s lackluster performance, stating that without a strong performance, winning games is challenging. He admitted to being particularly animated during the match, highlighting the urgency he felt to make changes early on.

Looking ahead, Moore stressed the need to learn from the disappointing performance and rectify the mistakes before the upcoming game in four days. He sees it as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to improve the team’s overall performance.

Preston dominated the first half, taking the lead with an early Alan Browne header and adding a second through Will Keane. Although Huddersfield showed a glimmer of hope with Danny Ward’s header, Matty Pearson’s injury forced an early substitution. Ben Whiteman sealed the victory for Preston, ending their own tough run.

Despite the defeat, Preston manager Ryan Lowe expressed respect for Moore and Huddersfield, acknowledging their organization and dangerous qualities in certain situations. He voiced support for Moore, recognizing him as a fighter and warrior who sticks to his game plan despite the current challenges.
