Bradford City manager Graham Alexander strongly dislikes the concept of rotation, a term that often makes managers uneasy. Despite having a sizable squad and relatively few players in the treatment room, Alexander prefers to maintain a winning culture and believes players should earn their place through consistent performance. Bradford City has recently achieved four consecutive victories in all competitions.
Alexander, drawing from his experience as a player, expresses his disdain for the idea of rotation, believing that discussing it weakens players’ minds. He emphasizes the importance of players having a strong mentality to avoid physical weakness, advocating for the belief that they can play every minute. Despite acknowledging healthy competition within the squad, Alexander believes in rewarding performances and victories by letting players keep their starting positions.
Additionally, Alexander is not a proponent of setting internal points targets for blocks of games, preferring to aim for the maximum possible points. He questions the effectiveness of setting specific points targets and expresses his belief that the ultimate goal should always be to achieve the highest possible success.
Regarding the squad, Alexander confirms that the club will retain the registration of loanee Daniel Oyegoke for the 2023-24 season, despite the Brentford defender recovering from shoulder surgery at his parent club. There’s a deal between the two clubs, and Oyegoke will return to Bradford City once fully fit. Alexander also leaves the possibility open for loanees Rayhaan Tulloch and Chisom Afoka to stay, even though they haven’t featured in his plans so far. Both Tulloch and Afoka have break clauses in their loan deals in January.
