Former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has sent a 4 word massage to current Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie

Former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has advised current Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie that he may need some “luck” to secure a first-team place at the club. McGregor, speaking as part of UEFA’s Access All Areas feature, drew parallels between McCrorie’s situation and his own experience at Rangers when Paul Le Guen signed Lionel Letizi to play ahead of him.

McGregor shared that, like McCrorie, he was in a similar position when Letizi was signed, and he discussed the matter with former Rangers goalkeeping coach Billy Thomson. Thomson advised McGregor to “wait for your time,” and McGregor eventually got his chance when Letizi got injured. McGregor highlighted the role of luck in such situations and suggested that McCrorie might also need to be patient and wait for an opportunity.

McCrorie, a 25-year-old Scottish goalkeeper, faces tough competition at Rangers, particularly with the impressive form of Jack Butland this season. Butland, signed from Crystal Palace, has delivered strong performances, keeping 13 clean sheets in 28 appearances. McCrorie, a product of the Rangers academy, has had limited chances at Ibrox, playing just five times since making his debut in 2021.

Given the competition for a starting role, McGregor acknowledged the difficulty McCrorie faces in pushing his way into the first team. While McCrorie may be frustrated with limited opportunities, McGregor suggested that patience and learning alongside Butland could be valuable for his development.

The report also speculates that McCrorie might consider a move away from the club to ensure more regular playing time, although, for now, he may need to remain patient and continue his development with Rangers.
