JUST IN : Paul Mullin discusses brutal fine system at Wrexham AFC

Wrexham’s star player Paul Mullin has provided insight into the strict fines list that helps maintain discipline in the dressing room. With the global attention drawn to Wrexham following the takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, players like Ben Tozer and Aaron Hayden enforce a set of fines to keep their teammates in check.

In his book “My Wrexham Story,” Mullin detailed the fines that players face for various infractions, including being late for training, gym, or meetings, with fines ranging from £20 to £100. Not wearing flip-flops in the shower, having a phone go off, or cleaning boots in the shower also incur fines. Additionally, players are penalized for not eating breakfast by a specific time, and giving away a match shirt carries a fine of £50.

The fines are not only limited to the actions monitored by Tozer and Hayden but also extend to matters overseen by the medical staff. Players can be fined for not wearing GPS, failing to report injuries after training, or being late for treatments.

Wrexham’s dressing room features a roulette wheel and dice to determine the nature of the forfeit or punishment. The wheel is spun when a player is fined, and the dice represent different forfeits, ranging from a lap of the pitch in underwear to starting a “boy band” with teammates.

Mullin shared his experiences, stating, “If you’re really unlucky you’ll have to create a boy band for a day with the teammates either side of you in the squad numbers. In my case, that’s Ollie Palmer and Liam McAlinden – and not many people want to hear that!” The fines and forfeits contribute to maintaining discipline and camaraderie within the team.
