Charlie Patino, the Arsenal loanee currently playing for Championship side Swansea City, has reportedly attracted interest from Italian giants Juventus ahead of the January transfer window. The 20-year-old midfielder has been a key contributor to Swansea’s campaign, featuring 16 times in the league and providing three goals and four assists.
Recent reports in Italy suggested that Juventus was considering a deal with Arsenal for Patino in the upcoming transfer window. However, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, any potential move between Arsenal and Juventus is more likely to happen in the summer transfer window rather than in January.
Romano stated that Arsenal is satisfied with Patino’s progress during his loan spell in the Championship, indicating that the player is expected to stay with Swansea for the remainder of the season. Romano suggested that decisions regarding Patino’s future are likely to be made in the second half of 2024.
Patino spent the previous season on loan with Blackpool but couldn’t prevent the club from relegation to League One. Despite the team’s struggles, he contributed two goals and four assists in 34 appearances in the second division.
Swansea City, currently 17th in the Championship table, recently drew 1-1 with managerless Stoke City. The team is looking to improve its position and avoid relegation, with a five-point gap to the relegation zone.
Patino’s future beyond the current loan spell remains uncertain. While he has performed well for Swansea, breaking into Arsenal’s first-team plans under manager Mikel Arteta might be challenging. A potential move to Juventus in the summer is mentioned as an exciting prospect, but decisions about his future ultimately rest with Arsenal. The midfielder’s next match with Swansea is against Middlesbrough on December 16th.
