Huddersfield Town has revealed a new mural dedicated to Club Captain Jonathan Hogg, located at the intersection of Leeds Road and Lower Fitzwilliam Street. This latest mural celebrates Hogg’s remarkable 10-year tenure with the club since joining in 2013.
The artwork, a local collaboration with designer Peter O’Toole and artists from the Northern Mural Co, follows a previous tribute to the Thrice Championship-winning side of the 1920s. The new mural marks a significant chapter in the club’s modern history, highlighting Hogg’s decade-long contribution during one of the team’s most pivotal eras.
The project received support from Club Partners Majestic Site Management, with special thanks extended to Lee Marsden and his team. The mural, strategically located on a gable end terraced house, was made possible through the cooperation and accommodation provided by Terry Sykes of Barry Sykes Enterprises. Situated along a route frequently used by supporters on match days, the mural enhances the club’s presence across the town.
Fondly nicknamed ‘The General’ by fans for his unwavering commitment to the game, Hogg is depicted proudly in blue and white in the mural. Two portraits showcase the midfielder in his inaugural season in 2013/14 and his tenth season in 2023/24.
Joining from Watford in 2013, the 35-year-old Hogg has amassed 358 appearances and scored five goals for Town. A key figure in the team’s promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17 and survival in the following season, Hogg assumed the role of captain in 2021. Leading the team to a second Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final in 2022, he currently ranks 13th in the club’s all-time appearances and is poised to approach the top 10 by the end of the current campaign.
