According to a report from TEAMtalk, Charles Sagoe, a 19-year-old Arsenal youngster, has garnered interest from Charlton Athletic, Barnsley, and Millwall as the January transfer window approaches. The trio of Football League clubs is reportedly considering a loan move for the promising Premier League talent.
Sagoe, who has been with Arsenal since 2015 after a stint with Fulham, has progressed through the ranks of the Emirates Stadium’s academy and has been a significant figure in various youth levels for the Gunners. While he made his senior debut under Mikel Arteta in September during an EFL Cup match against Brentford, that remains his sole appearance for the top-flight team.
With the possibility of a loan exit on the horizon, Sagoe has become a target for Millwall in the Championship, as well as Charlton, Barnsley, and Reading in League One, providing him with multiple options for his temporary move.
Despite making eight appearances in Premier League 2 this season, contributing with a goal and an impressive six assists, a loan spell in the Football League could offer Sagoe valuable experience and regular senior football, which might be more beneficial for his development than featuring with Arsenal’s development side.
While Charlton, Barnsley, and Reading are seen as potential destinations offering more playing time for Sagoe, Millwall, currently 20th in the Championship, might present more competition for a forward position at The Den.
