Charlton Athletic stance on Championship fantastic star outlined ahead of January

According to a report from London News Online, Charlton Athletic has no plans to pursue a transfer for Preston North End’s Patrick Bauer in the upcoming January window. Despite the 31-year-old center-back falling out of favor at Preston and the potential availability for a loan move to secure more playing time, Charlton is not expected to make a move to bring him back to The Valley.

Bauer, who previously played for Charlton from 2015 to 2019, making 135 appearances and scoring nine goals, notably contributed to their promotion to the Championship with a play-off final win over Sunderland at Wembley. However, his current situation at Preston sees a lack of playing opportunities, having featured only once this season under manager Ryan Lowe. With his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, signs indicate that Bauer may leave, becoming a free agent next summer.
