Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has revealed that left-back Ruben Vinagre is set to spend around five weeks on the sidelines due to a recurring hamstring injury. The 24-year-old, on loan from Sporting Lisbon, has faced a frustrating time with injuries since joining Hull in the last transfer window. This setback means Vinagre is unlikely to feature until the end of January.
Rosenior expressed his disappointment for Vinagre, acknowledging the positive impact he made in a recent game against Middlesbrough. Despite the setback, Rosenior emphasized the need for the team to adapt and move forward.
Vinagre’s injury comes at a crucial time for Hull City, but the manager mentioned alternative options for the left-back position. Players like Lewie Coyle, Jacob Greaves, and James Furlong could step in during Vinagre’s absence.
Since arriving at Hull over the summer as a replacement for Callum Elder, Vinagre has made 11 appearances in all competitions, with 10 in the league. His brief but impactful cameo against Middlesbrough showcased his potential, but recurrent injuries have hampered his consistent involvement.
Vinagre, a former Portugal youth international, had previous spells at Wolves, Sporting Lisbon, AS Monaco, Olympiacos, Famalicao, and Everton. Despite his struggles with injuries, Hull City currently sits in 6th place in the table and is set to face Bristol City in their upcoming fixture.
