David Moyes ‘kiss of death’ mooted at West Ham United with new decision soon

Simon Jordan, speaking on talkSPORT, passionately defended West Ham manager David Moyes amid recent pressure following a 5-1 loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarter-finals. Moyes is nearing the end of his contract, set to expire at the end of the season, but Jordan believes he deserves a new deal.

Jordan highlighted West Ham’s overall performance, citing their success in Europe, a strong league position, and a decent cup run despite the EFL Cup exit. He emphasized Moyes’ contribution in steering West Ham away from relegation trouble and into European competitions, even winning one of them. Jordan questioned the need for further scrutiny and stressed Moyes’ competence.

Acknowledging that a vocal minority of fans may criticize the style of play, Jordan defended Moyes by recalling past instances where similar sentiments were expressed against West Ham’s playing style. He expressed amusement at the situation and emphasized that Moyes is a capable manager who has performed well at West Ham.

Regarding the contract situation, Jordan argued that there should be a discussion about offering Moyes a new contract, considering his achievements. He questioned whether there is a fear that Moyes might take his foot off the pedal or if both sides are genuinely uninterested in continuing the relationship.

When co-host Jim White suggested that many people may not want to be praised by Jordan, the latter humorously responded, “I don’t blame them. Kiss of death.”

The discussion reflects the varying opinions surrounding Moyes, with recent results leading to debates about his managerial tenure at West Ham. Despite the EFL Cup disappointment, Jordan sees Moyes as deserving of a new contract based on overall performance and achievements with the club.
