Auburn’s early signing period has concluded, securing the team’s position at No. 7 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. Head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff successfully signed 20 players, including preferred walk-ons such as receiver Dylan Gentry, kicker Towns McGough, and long snappers JR Buckner and Keaton McNutt. While the Music City Bowl awaits to conclude the 2023 season, there is considerable anticipation for the future of Auburn football.
The majority of Auburn’s 2024 class is expected to arrive in January for winter workouts and spring practice. Some signees are already on campus, participating in bowl practices. For those who enroll early, this presents an opportunity to get a head start.
Coach Freeze emphasized the advantages of arriving in January, stating, “Coming here in January certainly increases the odds. I’m not saying that others who show up in the summer won’t, but having them here for all of spring ball, training with Strength coach Dom Studzinski, adapting to the routine of being a college football player and student—it’s going to pay dividends. With the summer to continue training and their participation in fall camp, they already know the system and the verbiage. It certainly gives them a fair shot at jumping in and playing early.”
