AC Milan is anticipated to be active in the January transfer window, with a focus on strengthening the defensive department, particularly in light of Fikayo Tomori’s injury. According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), one of the initial moves will involve recalling Matteo Gabbia from his loan spell at Villarreal. Gabbia, a product of Milan’s Primavera, offers advantages such as familiarity with the club and the league, and the option is cost-effective.
However, Milan’s defensive reinforcement plans extend beyond Gabbia, and the club is looking to England for potential signings. Clement Lenglet has reportedly expressed interest in joining Milan, but the completion of the deal depends on terminating the loan agreement between Aston Villa and Barcelona. Economic negotiations with Barcelona, given Lenglet’s €6 million net salary per season, are expected to be challenging.
The list of potential defensive signings also includes Jakub Kiwior at Arsenal, who has previous Serie A experience. However, the obstacle lies in Arsenal’s reluctance to loan him out. Additionally, Nordi Mukiele from PSG has been offered to AC Milan as a potential option for strengthening the defensive line. The club is exploring various possibilities to bolster their defensive options during the January transfer window.
