Georgia’s quarterback, Carson Beck, is set to return for the 2024 season, providing a silver lining for the team despite their 29-game winning streak ending and missing out on the College Football Playoff. Beck’s decision to stay is fueled by a desire to address unfinished business next season, especially after the Bulldogs’ loss to Alabama in the SEC title game disrupted their plans.
Reflecting on his choice, Beck acknowledged the impact of the SEC championship loss on his decision. Despite being considered a first- or second-round NFL draft prospect after an impressive season with a 72% completion rate, 3,738 yards, and 22 touchdowns, Beck opted to remain at Georgia. The upcoming Orange Bowl against Florida State presents an opportunity for Georgia to secure a school record 50th win for its senior class.
Beck’s consistent performance, with over 243 yards in 12 of 13 games and minimal turnovers (six interceptions in 399 pass attempts), poses a challenge for opponents. He ranks sixth nationally in completion percentage, passing yards, and eighth in yards per pass attempt. Florida State’s defensive coordinator, Adam Fuller, recognizes Beck’s efficiency, noting his ability to escape the pocket and make strategic decisions, factors contributing to Georgia’s offensive success this season.
