If Sunday’s game marks the conclusion of Lamar Jackson’s regular season, the Ravens quarterback certainly exited on a high note. Following a stellar performance where he achieved a perfect passer rating and threw five touchdowns in a decisive 56-19 victory over the Miami Dolphins, Jackson earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week title on Wednesday. This marks his second such recognition this season, the first being for his outstanding Week 7 display against the Detroit Lions when he passed for 357 yards, three touchdowns, and added a rushing score.
Considering the possibility that Jackson may opt to sit out the regular-season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, he is currently the frontrunner for his second NFL Most Valuable Player award. Teammates expressed admiration for his exceptional performance in Sunday’s game, during which he threw for 321 yards, rushed for 35 yards, and played a crucial role in securing the AFC’s No. 1 seed for the playoffs.
Inside linebacker Roquan Smith praised Jackson, likening his excitement to that of a child at the movies, emphasizing Jackson’s dedication and hard work. Smith highlighted Jackson’s commitment to protecting the home field at ‘The Bank’ (M&T Bank Stadium) and acknowledged the quarterback’s pivotal role in the team’s success. Jackson has now earned the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award ten times, with five accolades in 2019, twice in 2020, and once in 2021.
