Celtic eyeing move to sign creative £2m attacker for Rodgers
Celtic is reportedly considering a move to secure the services of Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn during the January transfer window, aiming to bolster their attacking options. The potential deal is estimated to cost around £2 million.
Following a busy summer transfer window for Celtic, which saw several new arrivals, some players have not met expectations. There are indications of possible departures, with interest in players like Alexandro Bernabei, Yuki Kobayashi, Yosuke Ideguchi, Marco Tilio, and Gustaf Lagerbielke.
In response to the team’s current situation, manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly seeking reinforcements in the winter window. The areas of focus include a striker, left-winger, and central midfielder, with a potential budget of up to £10 million.
Rodgers, when asked about the upcoming transfer plans, expressed his desire for quality additions, stating, “I want quality. And that’s what we need to improve.”
According to recent reports, Celtic has set its sights on Nicolas Kuhn, a former prospect of Ajax and Bayern Munich who currently plays for Rapid Vienna. The move to Parkhead is said to be attractive to Kuhn, and the potential transfer fee is around £2 million, four times the amount Rapid Vienna paid for him 18 months ago.
The Scottish Sun report highlights that data and scouting site Wyscout recently recognized Kuhn as one of the top 12 ‘chance creators’ in world football, indicating his proficiency in creating goal-scoring opportunities. The 24-year-old, primarily a right-winger but capable of playing on the left or as a center-forward, has accumulated 51 senior appearances for Rapid Vienna, contributing seven goals and 10 assists.
Before joining Vienna, Kuhn received praise from Bayern Munich campus manager Jochen Sauer, describing him as a technically strong and agile player with high expectations for the future.
If the deal materializes, Kuhn could be an exciting addition to Celtic’s attacking lineup, providing a creative spark for the team’s pursuit of another Scottish Premiership title. The reported £2 million transfer fee suggests a potential bargain for Celtic, especially considering Kuhn’s recognition as a top chance creator in the footballing world.
