Charlton Athletic is reportedly nearing the completion of a deal to acquire Plymouth Argyle center-back Macaulay Gillesphey, as per the South London Press. The 28-year-old defender has seen limited action in the Championship, making only four appearances and remaining on the outskirts of the Plymouth squad.
With the Championship side open to offers for Gillesphey and the player eager for more playing time, Charlton has emerged as a contender to secure the defender’s services. The League One club is reportedly close to finalizing the deal, with expectations that Gillesphey will officially join Charlton today.
