Charlton head coach Michael Appleton has stated why he is unwilling to discuss Cheltenham Town attacker Will Goodwin, despite the 21-year-old emerging as a top transfer target for the South Londoners.
Charlton submitted a better offer yesterday, which is being evaluated by the Robins board.
Oxford United are also interested in big target Goodwin.
Appleton told the South London Press: “There have been quite a few strikers mentioned already, and I don’t like talking about other players at other teams unless the case is similar to that of Clarke-Harris, where a bid was accepted. Then it becomes a different game.
“Right now, he is a Cheltenham player and will remain so until the fee is agreed upon. I’d be pleased to discuss my thoughts with you.I know Darrell quite well; we have the same representation, so it’s a little weird from that perspective. I’m sure if it came to that, and there was an opportunity to discuss him, Darrell would be one of the people I’d speak with.”
